A Letter From the Food Service Director
My name is Kyle Ranney and I am the Food Service Director for the Lebanon School District.
My team and I take great pride in providing your student with healthy, nutritious and good tasting breakfasts and lunches. Much of what we serve we make from scratch using fresh local ingredients as much as possible.
For all families we have an online service where you can monitor your child’s account activity and account balances; also. You can also set up a low-balance notification and, if you wish, make payments to your child’s food service account. The service is free but there is a small transaction fee for each payment made.
The website is https://www.linqconnect.com/. If you choose to make payments to your students food service account by check, please ensure the check is made out to “Lebanon School District Food Service Account”. Checks that are not made out this way will be returned.
Free & Reduced Meal applications are provided in the back-to-school packets. Applications can be submitted at any time during the school year. The application can also be found under Free and Reduced Meals or you can apply online at linqconnect.com.
If you have any questions regarding the food service program, I can be reached at 603-448-1538 or kranney@sau88.net.

What Makes A "Meal"
Our food service program operates under a serving model that promotes student agency and reduces food waste. Students have multiple options and they are able to choose what they would like to have, as long as they have selected at least three components at lunch (one of the components must be a fruit or vegetable) and three components at breakfast (one of the components must be a fruit or vegetable). The components of a meal follow the USDA MyPlate guidelines.
MyPlate Breakfast

Students are offered at least four food items from all three required meal components (fruits and/or vegetables, grains and/or meats/meat alternates, and fluid milk). Students must select at least three food items, including ½ cup of fruits and/or vegetables to qualify as a meal (7 CFR 220.8(e)).
MyPlate Lunch

Students are offered all five required meal components (fruits, vegetables, grains, meats/meat alternates, and fluid milk). Students must select at least three meal components, including ½ cup of fruits and/or vegetables to qualify as a meal (7 CFR 210.10(e)).
Nutrition Standards For School Meals
All food sold in schools must meet the nutritional guidelines outlined in the Smart Snack guidelines published by the USDA. This includes the components of a meal as well as all a la carte items. Specific nutrient information about the daily meal is located on the interactive Breakfast and Lunch Menus.

About Fresh Picks Cafe
Fresh Picks Cafe utilizes disposable plates, cups, napkins and tumblers which are 100% biodegradable and compostable. The plates, cups, and parfait tumblers used are made from almost 100% plant and natural fibers that are renewable and sustainable. Our napkins are 100% recycled and EcoLogo Certified.
Your school lunch program provides lunches daily that comply with nutritional standards set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture. Those standards include at least one serving of protein, two servings of fruits and/or vegetables, one serving of a grain, and 8 fl oz of milk.
Government free and reduced meals include breakfast. Although many students participate at lunchtime by taking advantage of the government-subsidized free and reduced lunch program, lots of students don't realize that if they are approved for lunch, they are approved for breakfast as well. Less than 15% of students who are approved for free or reduced meals participate at breakfast.
Free and reduced applications can be submitted all year long. If your family status changes, or you didn't complete the free and reduced application at the beginning of the year that doesn't mean you missed your opportunity. New applications are accepted and approved all year long.
All meals served in the school cafe helps to benefit the school district financially. Every approved meal served in the school cafe results in government reimbursements. This brings much needed funding into a school district. Additionally, the more meals served within a district helps to increase commodity food contributions by the government, which helps farmers.
